Rou En Y Gastric Bypass Surgery

The most commonly performed surgery in the United States at this time is the gastric bypass.

This is actually known as Rou En Y gastric bypass, or RNY. Eighty per cent of the people who have weight loss procedures in the United States undergo this particular procedure.

RNY involves dividing the stomach into two sections, a small pouch and a larger one. This is done by sewing or stapling and is usually called stomach stapling.

Creation of the small pouch means that the patient will only be able to eat about a half cup of food at each meal. The end result of this? The patient will lose at least 60% of their total body weight and will be healthier.
