Portable room air-conditioned does not need any permanent installation. However you need to vent out the exhaust hose. Some kind of drainage is required for these units. As the design of various portable units is different, hence they also have varying ways to condensate water. Some portable air condition units get rid of condensation through a tube outside. Bucket or trays are needed by some units, which regularly need to be drained out. Few modern and expensive portable units are non drip models that evaporate the condensation back into the air. But once you have placed your portable air conditioner in a desired location they are easy to maintain.
